![]() ![]() An idea is to boot knoppix (or another debian based live distribution) on ur mac, install UNetbootin for Linux, and write the pendrive. This software also doesn’t need installation for the. It has a unique option to create a bootable fixed hard disk and removable USB disk. UNetbootin is specially designed for Ubuntu, Fedora, and other Linux distributions for creating bootable Live USB drives. The 'dd' will not work, because an iso is not same like a raw image of dd. Available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux but with a separate file for each OS. I am also looking for such an application, without result. Please try with 2gb, 4gb or perhaps 8gb pendrives, SD or even compact flash ones (with their adapters if applicable). Exactly what UNetbootin for Windows (or Linux) is doing. ![]() Run Nautilus (Files), open the Overview by pressing the Start/Super key, type Files, and hit Enter. It seems many notebooks and desktops dont like linux 'USB' driven installations when we use 'large disks' for them. Download a Fedora image, choose a USB stick that does not contain any data you need, and connect it. For this reason, Tails does not work on Mac models that use the Apple M1 chip. Gotcha! It showed the partitions (I used just /home as a separate partition), and it's now formatting with 'random bytes' (that one lasted more than 1 hour). Can I install Tails with UNetbootin, YUMI, Rufus or my other favorite tool. ![]() Rufus sometimes ask us to download files, like ldlinux.bss and ldlinux.sys from syslinux-6.04 because of newer kernels, it seems. Those versions is already 'hybrid ISO', which supports 'ISO writing' and 'DD writing'. UNetbootin allows you to create bootable Live USB drives for Ubuntu, Fedora, and other Linux distributions without burning a CD. ![]() Those versions are always getting updated. I fixed this one just by using the last version of Rufus (3.12) while formatting my 4gb SD as FAT (just FAT, not FAT32) and by forcing Rufus to write as DD (not ISO), during my instalation of (or kali-linux-2020.3-installer-i386). It surely supports USB boot but the message 'No device for installation media was detected' kept appearing, even if I unplug then replug the USB device again. I was also having this problem with my 160gig USB HDD (I was using Rufus AND then Etcher) in my netbook. ![]()
